Chelsey’s New Years Goals: 2017

In case you missed yesterday’s post, it was all about Jocelyn’s 2017 goals. Today, I am sharing what my personal and professional goals entail for 2017. To kick things off, I first want to just say, this may be a bit lengthy…

This time, last year (2016), I remember looking up my yearly horoscope. I am a Sagittarius and I remember reading through what it said for personal, career, love & money. I remember feeling excited because most of what it stated was positive stuff. Normally, I don’t buy into that ‘mush’, but I still like to read them ;). Last year my horoscope said the following: 1. Money is most abundant in the first two months (I ended up leaving Corporate America in March… taking a major cut in my pay). 2. Exploring a creative passion will be slow, but steady (we ended up launching our blog and here we are). 3. At the end of 2016, you’ll be faced with major decisions and choices (we closed our boutique and …. you’ll learn the other big news next week). Crazy right? Basically everything it stated – came to fruition in one facet or another.

This year, I am setting my own horoscope. Both professionally and personally!

Chelsey’s New Year 2017 Goals
Professionally:

Consistency: One of the many things I struggle with is being consistent day in and day out. Although I am a major planner, I’m not a routine planner. I don’t wake up at 5a and workout then eat my Wheaties, etc. I am more of a here is my list, now what can I get done today? This year, I want to get a heck of a lot better at that! I want to put myself on a strict schedule. Here is what I have carved out for myself starting the week of 2/23 (more as to why that week -coming up soon).

  • 5:30a – Wake your lazy ass up & go to the gym
  • 7:00a – Showered, eating breakfast & answering any urgent e-mails
  • 8:15a – At my office for work
  • Lunch break – complete 3 tasks during this time (whether it is Photoshop a blog post or create an exclusive e-mail for our subscribers, following up on a project or working on Bloglovin‘. Just 3 things that can be done in that time frame).
  • 6:30 – Home and making dinner
  • 8:00 – Finish up working on NNB
  • 9:30p – In bed (I never go to bed before 11p ish and I’m trying to get better about that)

Content: One of the blogs that I love reading, writes about informational topics (not just outfits). I will find myself reading them time and time again because there is usually a great take-away or actionable items that I can apply to NNB or my life in general. Don’t get me wrong, I love quick mini posts too, but there is something to be said when you are providing information to your readers. I hope you all feel that way too. There are times that I really do my best to write something that is of true substance where you walk away saying…. hum, I can use that! Or maybe, that was  good info. One of my goals for 2017 is to have informational posts more often. Some of the ones you can expect from our Editorial Calendar include: How To Optimize Your Blog Images For Better Ranking, Top 3 Skincare Tips, SEO Tricks I’ve Learned Worth Sharing, How To Do Your Daily Make-Up, etc. If you all have additional ideas that you want to see, please let us know!

Creativity Inspired: Sometimes I like to think I am super creative, but really Jocelyn is more creative than I am. I’m more of your business brain/type A. One of my goals for 2017 is to think of clever ways to stay creative. It’s really easy to get bogged down with the same BS day in and out. Whether it’s going to a museum/play or watching more tutorials, finding fresh bloggers/brands etc.  I really want to learn more from other fellow blogger babes. There are so many fabulous brands, content creators, artists, photographers etc. out there who really put great content on this crazy world wide web. I want to challenge myself to be inspired by other creative souls on a daily basis. I want to learn something new (even if it’s small).

Personally:

Punctuality: I suck at punctuality… like seriously suck! It’s gotten so bad now that my family members tell me to be somewhere 1/2 hour before the real time. I know, it’s rude and I’ve gotten really bad at it. This year, 2017, I want to make that a personal goal. BE ON TIME JERK! I wish I had more to write on this goal, but let’s get serious… it’s really just about time management and not getting side tracked.

Performance: Raise your hand if you feel like you’re chronically tired? This probably goes back to having a set schedule and going to bed at a decent hour (here I am at 11:30p… still writing – SMH). This year, one of my 2017 goals is to improve my personal performance. Take better care of myself, drink more water, drink less wine! (<– maybe to the less wine). I also want to find a good multi-vitamin that doesn’t make me nauseous too. I’ve tried eating on a full stomach and it ruins me the entire day. Is there one you guys take or can recommend?

Praise: Tonight, my sister called me a “pusher”. Basically because I want to squeeze as much as I can out of very little -I push for everything I can (within reason). Because I am that way, I don’t always stop and praise the people around me (or myself) for the hard work that’s been put in. For instance, Jocelyn’s post yesterday, it was a wonderfully written and lengthy post. She did an amazing job! I could really tell she put a lot of thought and effort into typing out her ideas to share with everyone. I truly enjoyed reading it. I didn’t praise her enough for it however. We all need praise. It doesn’t matter if it’s from a peer, sibling, parent, or lover. We all want to know that our hard work is being recognized and patting others on the back for their efforts is a missed opportunity for most. It certainly falls to the side for me. I want to become better in that area. Praise people around me. Tell them they look nice, or that I noticed they did a really nice job on something. Not be so critical. I also want to praise myself too. We all work hard, but when was the last time you stepped back and said, “you know what? I killed it today… great job you bad-ass beast! Well done!”

I hope you enjoyed my 3’c and my 3’p for this year’s 2017 goals and resolutions! I don’t like to come up with a list of 100 or even 10 for that matter. I’m a realist… ain’t no one going to stick to 10+ resolutions come December of this year! Hahaha.  Keep coming back tomorrow because we have a Double Trouble for you all! Oh and next week we have a big announcement too =)

Happy New Years guys and thank you for making this adventure such a rewarding part of my day!

XX,

Chelsey
